As part of the new '20-20 vision' the group has charted out, LED Lighting will be one of the key strategic areas fueling its growth. The Group invested $3M at its state of the art manufacturing facility in Kigali Prime Economic Zone, Rwanda in the East African region of the African Continent. This strategic investment in Rwanda, as called out by Rwanda Development Board(RDB) is helping Rwanda transform its energy landscape and benefitting the people of Rwanda by creating jobs, making the country energy efficient and self-sufficient besides other economic benefits of helping with import substitution, generating exports and giving impetus to locally made and sourced Rwandese products.

Sahasra Rwanda commenced business in May 2012 as a small trading entity however quickly changed gears and today has grown into one of the most successful manufacturing entities in Kigali, Rwanda. The company has its corporate office cum showroom located at Muhima close to the city center and main business districts of Kigali.

Sahasra Rwanda is the only high-tech electronics manufacturing company that has invested in Kigali, Rwanda for manufacturing of LED Lights, Solar Products and other electronics products that will be introduced from time to time. Perhaps, the only LED Lighting manufacturing facility across all of East Africa it is the fastest growing company in Rwanda with over 40 employees and 40% YOY growth.

Sahasra has been a strong advocate and promotor significant promoter of Green Energy products, educating to adopt LED Lighting products as greener, safer and more environmentally healthy alternatives light applications by carrying out various campaigns across all of Rwanda, highlighting the benefits of LED Lighting and how to install/use it. Sahasra had a long-term goal of manufacturing the LED Lights in the country which was part of the DPR submitted to RDB and the Rwandan Government at the time of investment. Being true to its word and commitment, Sahasra lay the foundation stone in December 2012 and completed construction of its manufacturing facility cum warehouse in 2015. By Mid 2016 all the machines and equipment were-in place and the factory started to produce “Made In Rwanda” LED Lights which are today powering Rwandan cities, highways and homes. Sahasra has always been a proponent of Made in Rwanda products which will help improving the economic conditions of Rwanda and moving from an aid-based economy to a self-reliant and self-sustaining economy.

It is with no doubt that we credit our success to the Honorable President Excellency Paul Kagame and his team of young and dynamic ministers and bureaucrats at RDB and other government agencies, instrumental in convincing us to invest in Rwanda as well supporting us in setting up and stepping up our investments and actions on the ground. Truly it has been a wonderful experience dealing with the state of Rwanda as they are friendly, forward looking, showing the capacity to listen to global investors and implement suggestions on ground to ensure development and growth of Rwanda as a country and make it what it has become. It is beyond doubt that Sahasra will continue to invest in new products, new technologies and new businesses in this beautiful country in alignment with the President’s “Vision 2020” as a strategic investor to Rwanda.
